Violence at Howe Community Park Results in Four People Injured in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade

Sacramento County Sheriff's Office investigators are looking into a gunfire incident that erupted on April 18 2026 at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade area at the moment Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were breaking up a large unsanctioned party of hundreds of attendees.

How It Started

Officers from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office initially responded to the park on Howe Avenue at approximately 6:30 Saturday evening after obtaining information of persons possibly in possession of concealed weapons. Shortly after, a second call came in regarding a possible physical fight occurring at the location.

A sheriff's airship was sent to survey the area but could not confirm any ongoing fight. However, it became clear that a massive group had assembled at the park in an unauthorized manner.

The Shooting Itself

Deputies moved to clear the area by forming a perimeter and issuing commands over loudspeakers instructing attendees to clear out. Around 15 minutes were more info allowed for attendees to disperse.

Those Who Were Hit

Altogether, four gunshot victims were confirmed as gunshot victims. Those injured — comprising three men and one woman each reported to be in their mid to late twenties — were transported to hospitals in the Sacramento area. Hospital staff noted that two were treated for serious injuries, one sustained moderate wounds, and one had injuries classified as minor. Fortunately, each of the four victims was stable.

Sacramento fire crews provided support and aided in treating shooting victims at the scene.

Evidence at the Scene

The main crime scene was believed to have taken place on the Cottage Way corridor adjacent to the local Home Depot located at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Law enforcement investigators recovered more spent casings scattered along Cottage Way. Bullet holes were identified in the iron fence near the Home Depot store. These discoveries indicated that one of the gunmen had been shooting in a southerly direction from the Cottage Way area in the direction of the Home Depot store. The Home Depot was secured under a brief lockdown as a precaution. Crime scene personnel continued working late into the evening.

Suspects Detained

Information relayed via scanner audio showed that a vehicle identified as a Kia was pulled over in an area within Solano County. Four occupants were held for questioning. Deputies were en route to collect those detained to collect the individuals for questioning. Surveillance footage established that two individuals had fired weapons.
